Do men actually prefer the 'no make-up' look or is information technology a large lie?

For as long equally I can remember, men have alleged they prefer ''the natural await'' on women. But that could all be complete hogwash, says a new report from internet dating website Zoosk, which claims men's online actions actually say the opposite.

The study analysed 1200 women's profiles on Zoosk, and the results are rather damning: women wearing brand-up in their profile pictures attract three times as many hits every bit those who don't.

Is the 'no make-up' look really what men are after?

Just nonetheless, men swear they like women without make-up. And we've all heard it. ''Lipstick is gross.'' ''Do you actually have to wear all that stuff on your face?'' While 42-year-erstwhile Sam Delate is determined he married his wife because she was a natural beauty. ''The reason I take a preference for little make-upwardly on girls is that's what they volition look like naturally in the morning, as opposed to lying next to someone who tin can supply all the concealer to fill the cracks in the wall,'' Delate says.

And we believed you lot. But we've too seen guys lose control of their jaw when they stumble across the heavily made-upward Miss Universe contestants on Telly i Saturday afternoon. Or while checking out the latest caked-on infant in the new Transformers picture.

The Zoosk study is the almost specific slice of evidence yet, yet. Ladies who wore eye make-up were 139 per cent more likely to receive a note than those who didn't. Women who wore lipstick were 119 per cent more than likely to get notes than those who went without. If a gal happened to be wearing blush, they got 24 per cent more notes than those who abstained.

That doesn't add together up, does it, blokes? What's with the ''go natural'' bulletin if you're going to just hitting on dolled-upwards women?

All the same men maintain they'll go for less over more every time. Recently single Rob Tigust, 41, who is now online dating, says: ''I only like make-up around the eyes. I don't like lipstick, peculiarly red. If it's betwixt a girl with no make-upwardly or a full make-up chore, I'll take the daughter with none. I guess in the back of my mind lots of make-up means [they're] high maintenance and they're probably non that secure within their own body.''

Words. But actions speak louder. If more than guys are going for girls with an expertly applied face, it follows they must be more than attracted to made-up women, correct?

Not necessarily. According to online dater Dan McMillan, 32: ''A lot depends on the photograph. Eyeliner might mean she looks better in the shot, but in real life it's a totally dissimilar story. I'thou probably more than likely to tap a daughter if she's wearing some brand-upward than none at all.''

Confused nonetheless? So are the boys. In a different survey of men on the Zoosk site, 66 per cent of men said they didn't like dark make-up, while 57 per cent said that they wouldn't like a women wearing red lippie on a commencement date.

And you think we're a mystery.

I didn't even realise men knew what blush was, and perhaps they don't. The fact that women wearing make-up get more hits online may have been because they but looked ''healthy'' with a glow on their face, whether that was natural or painted on. In my experience, men don't actually pay too much attention to how many coats of mascara y'all're wearing, every bit long as you lot're not channeling La Toya Jackson.

There's always fence raging virtually whether women dress for men, and in truth, we don't. A ''no make-up'' girl is non of a sudden about to bust out the lippie just because guys similar it, and a woman who loves her warpaint isn't abruptly going to wipe it off but because a gars tells her to. Women who radiate confidence and happiness always draw more people to them – men and women included – and online, I bet that translates best as women smiling in their profile photo. I wonder if Zoosk took that into consideration with its survey.
